2. Flan

Flan, also known as creme caramel, is a custard dessert served with softened caramel on top, and this dish originated in Spain and France before traveling to Mesoamerica and becoming a unique treat there as well. Flan can be made with sugar, eggs, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and evaporated milk. The caramel, made from melted sugar, is poured into the mold first so that when the finished flan is popped out, the caramel is on top.

3. Empanadas

Empanadas are stuffed bread pastries, containing veggies, fruits or meat inside, that are baked or fried. Empanadas first originated in medieval Iberia, and eventually migrated throughout the Spanish speaking world. Sweet empanadas are a popular dessert and can be made with a wide variety of sweet stuffing ingredients. A simple recipe will use flour, butter, cream cheese, fruit jam, sugar, and cinnamon.
