20 percent of patients who visit the emergency room can actually be treated at urgent care centers. Unfortunately, many people visit emergency rooms because their primary physicians are not easily accessible when an emergency occurs. In order to relieve emergency room crowding, immediate care centers are available to those who have minor injuries that need immediate medical attention, including broken bones, burns, and respiratory illness. 24 hour urgent care facilities provide several benefits to patients, as they deliver immediate medical treatment to those who visit.
1. 24 hour urgent care facilities save time. On average, half of all patients wait less than 15 minutes to be seen by a doctor. In addition, 80 percent of all visits take 60 minutes or less. Since emergency room visits can last for several hours, the convenience of quickly seeing a doctor at urgent care can be beneficial to those who need immediate treatment.
2. Many urgent care centers are open 24 hours. Unforttunately, not many primary care doctors are. In fact, only 29 percent of these doctors provide treatment after hours. As a result, many people will visit emergency rooms for treatment even if their symptoms can be treated at 24 hour urgent care.
3. Urgent care facilities can effectively treat minor illness. Broken bones and colds are common medical conditions remedied at urgent care, as 6.8 million bones are broken every year, and six to 10 colds infect children every year. In addition, some urgent care facilities are also equipped to dispense prescription medications to patients before they even leave the center.
In order to free up emergency room space, urgent care centers are available to immediately treat minor conditions. By visiting 24 hour urgent care, you can be treated quickly and efficiently at all hours of the night. As a result, you can promptly return to living a healthy life. I have always been kind of nervous to visit urgent care, mainly because they just seem like dirty places, and their doctors probably are not even doctors and they probably are not qualified enough to treat anybody who walks through their doors, but that is just me
Wow, thats very judgmental of you. If youve never visited one, how can you be sure what they look like? Get over yourself and visit one the next time you have a minor illness. I guarantee that you will get the same quality treatment as you would at the ER.
